Purr, baby, purr, and genuflect, show some respect, for the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster. What a car, what a car, what a car — and what a match!

Definitely a range topping piece of work, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster goes a long, long way towards proving that Mercedes Benz is definitely one of the rare auto manufacturers known for making a convertible in every possible shape and size you can possibly imagine. In fact it seems like they offer one for just about every size of car that it produces. Who doesn’t love that?

You may recognize some of the styling cues on the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster from the uber popular SLR racing cars that were so big in the 1950s.

All’s I can say is give me more, more, more!

A New McLaren for 2010?

The McLaren. The car. The superhero of cars. The car that every man wants to own and that every woman wants to ride in — and drive, boyos, it is 2009, after all. When can we expect a new McLaren, since it is now official that, this year, the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren — which was none too popular — will be no more?

Well, as a matter of fact, there are rumors that 2010 will be the year, although some experts are encouraging fans to keep their drooling in tow until 2012.

Still, let’s get back to that rumor mill, shall we? It happens to be saying that there are already plans for a presently nameless McLaren to be built at the famed facility across the pond in Woking, England. The rumored car is expected to be in competition with the Ferrari F430.

As far as power goes, we can look forward to a massive 550 HP V8 engine. All we can say is, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed.

McLaren F1 Supercar sells for $4.1 million at London Auction

The McLaren F1 supercar proved to be one of the most extravagant and prized car as it was sold at $4.1 million in a London auction Automobiles of London organized by RM and Sotheby.

The auction is considered to be a world record with the car’s expected price doubling by the end of the bidding. The sale of the McLaren F1 supercar had the spotlights during the auction which lasted for 7 hours. The auction featured a great collection of must have cars to a crowd in the standing only bidding room.

Among other cars that wowed the crowd were a 1959 Ferrari 250 Tour de France which was sold for $3.6 million. Another Ferrari, the 1965 250 LM Berlinetta had the same final price.

A Horch 853 Special Roadster manufactured in 1938 was tagged at $1.8. A $1.1 sticker was posted for a 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante. Falling short of estimates was a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder which peaked at $4.2 million which was below the $4.8 million expected worth.

Organizers of the event disclosed that the values of the cars sold may set a new standard how cars are appreciated by a very discerning market. The McLaren F1 Supercar proved that great cars can be obtained by people who can spare some for great prices.

The RM and Sotheby auction was able to sell around 85 cars of the 120 striking automobiles. The pricey cars sold are very wise investments for the buyers considering the current instability of economy and market.
